After the break-up, record execs were so worried that there could be a full-scale riot that they released 'I Owe You', originally the B-Side to Salty Gloopy Enzymes. I Owe You spent 4 weeks on top of the charts in both the UK and US, scoring The Spoons their second consecutive UK and US Christmas Number 1 hits.
Both Sherv and Paul lay low after this, until in May 2001 when Paul teamed up with schoolfriend Hannah Rigby to right and perform 'Flow/Beat'. With a much slower and 'dancier' vibe to it, the song peaked at Number 7 in the US charts but failed to reach top 10 in the UK, remaining at a shockingly low 34.
